Solutions in transport
In recent years, Elektrokovs manufacturing programme has expanded to include traction transformers and reactors for rolling stock. The transformers and reactors are designed to comply with EN 60 310 and other standards on the set requirements for mechanical properties, flammability and insulation. They have a dry design, which means they are not immersed in any insulating liquid. We have certified insulation system according to standards EN 45545.
The rated insulation voltage is limited to 3 700 V for windings directly connected to traction mains, and 4 800 V for other windings. The frequency of the voltage for the transformer power supply and the frequency of the reactor ripple current ranges from 50 Hz to 20 kHz. Transformers and reactors can be installed in internal switchboards, external containers located on the tram, train or trolleybus roof, and also in environments with PD4 contamination.
Where necessary, coils, the entire transformer or reactor can be encapsulated in resin, a form, case or container. Non-encapsulated wound parts are double impregnated with varnish and dipped in coating varnish ensuring protection against moisture and mould. The winding is either of aluminium or copper wire. The reactors are designed as iron-core or aircore reactors.
